GENERAL
- Any individual in attendance at Baxter Field will abide by Federal, State, and Local laws.
- All fliers must have a current AMA Membership Card.
- All AMA Safety rules will be followed. No member will fly if they have been consuming alcohol.
- Each individual is responsible for damages he or she causes.
- No spectators will be allowed in the pit area or on the field unless specifically invited by, and under the supervision of, a Baxter Field member.
- An adult will supervise small children at all times. Pets must be on a leash.
- Please use trash receptacles provided. Do not drop cigarette butts on the field grounds.
- Due to constant full-scale aircraft traffic in and out of Tinker AFB, and other safety considerations, all fliers must have an observer at the field with them.
FLIGHT OPERATIONS
- Aircraft in the pits and on the taxiway should always be pointed towards the runway when starting and running the engine. Effort should be made to avoid prop wash being directed at other planes or individuals. Engine runs extending beyond one minute in duration will be performed only beyond extreme North and South pit locations. (see field diagram).
- Aircraft will not be taxied in the pit area. before or after flight. For takeoff, the aircraft should be “walked” or carried out of the pit area. After landing, the engine will be shut down before crossing the “Dead Line” painted on the taxiways.
- All takeoffs and landings will normally be made North or South on the paved runway, or to the East of same. Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) takeoffs to the East can be made off the runway, but taxiways may not be used for this purpose. No takeoff will be initiated from behind a pilot on the field. (See diagram for clarification of flight operations area).
- The runway is for takeoff or landing only; no starting, tuning, maintenance, or repairs are allowed on the runway.
- No flying is permitted over the pit area, spectator area, or parking lot. Flying in the area West of the parking lot is permitted in the morning, provided all flyers present agree.
- Landing aircraft have runway priority. Taxiing aircraft must yield to aircraft on final
approach. Dead stick landings have immediate runway priority.
- The following actions should be announced loudly and clearly to other active fliers:
(suggested announcement in CAPS)
- Intent to take the runway for takeoff (COMING OUT)
- Intent to Land (LANDING)
- Engine dead or other in-flight emergency (DEAD STICK)
- Walking onto or crossing runway to retrieve a plane (ON THE FIELD) and
(CLEAR) when off runway behind the Dead Line.
- If full-scale aircraft are in the area you must fly as low as possible until they pass.
- No pilots shall stand in front of the pilot stations or beyond the painted Dead Line while flying their aircraft. (See field Diagram).
- Do not fuel or de-fuel aircraft under the pavilion.
- Mufflers are required for all engines larger than .19 cubic inches displacement.
RADIO USAGE
- No transmitter will be turned on without first being cleared on the frequency control board.
- Flyers sharing the same channel shall coordinate with each other regarding use of the frequency in conflict. When a frequency is occupied, it is the responsibility of subsequent users to contact the first user and or other users.
- Due to interference problems in the OKC metro area, no flying will be permitted on Channel 20.
NEW FLYERS AND NEW MEMBERS
- An experienced Baxter Field flyer must supervise beginners. If you are new to R/C flying instructors are available. Whether (in their own opinion) experienced or not, all new members must demonstrate safe flying skills before being allowed to solo at Baxter.
